It’s been too long since my last post, but so much has happened, and all in the span of just a few days. I completed my joint compound homework (as promised), preparing the walls and gaps around the ceiling lights as best I could. Team Tile (J.J. and mini-Caleb) arrived on Friday, as scheduled, and worked to get the room ready for Team Carpentry’s (Dave and Jonas) arrival on Monday (today). Not only did they finish the work that absolutely needed to get done before the built-ins could go in, they also made some good progress on one of the shower walls. Bonus!
All that progress was catching, as Jeff and I also completed some lingering household tasks (hanging lights, installing dimmers, installing a towel bar, and finally getting the handheld for the master shower installed) making the weekend very busy indeed. We also got the walls base-coated to seal in the compound work, and to create a smooth base for Dave and Jonas to work from (and to test my mud skills, or should I say mad mud skillz?). The paint color looks great, even in a dismal, freezing-rain-soaked, grey, wintery light. We still have to decide whether or not to paint the built-in cabinets white or another color, but we have time for that (we’re toying with the idea of a deeper grey, or one that matches the wall color, but keeping the countertop gloss white). In the meantime, my prep-work is paying off, making each step the Teams take carry us closer and closer to the end.
The pictures really tell the story, as they usually do. (I hope to have more photos in a couple of days showing Team Carpentry’s progress.) Have a look-see, and enjoy!
*Song lyrics from Someone Like You off Adele’s new album, 21. Easily the best song on the album. It’s in my head, though it has very little to do with the work being done here. Have a listen. xoxo
